Inidividual Sessions

Sport Support works with athletes, parents, and coaches both virtually or in person (if local to Connecticut). Have questions for us? Call or email us today.

We begin by setting up a FREE 30-minute consultation via Zoom (a HIPAA approved online platform) where we will discuss your background, your sport and sport history, areas of concern, areas for potential growth, goals, and more to gain insight on how we can bridge the gap together towards achieving performance excellence. This FREE 30-minute consultation is really a time for our mental performance consultant (MPC) to get to know you and decide if this would be a beneficial working relationship for both parties. If there is potential for growth, the MSC, parent (if athlete is under 18), and the athlete will discuss how to move forward with services and will be presented with a prospective plan of action for the working relationship. Working in the client’s best interest is a top priority of Sport Support and if we feel at this point in time we cannot help you with your needs, we will refer you to another practitioner or suggest you come back to work with us at a later time.

You and our MPC will work 1-on-1 to enhance your performance over pre-determined length of time. From there you will learn from the MPC to enhance your knowledge, build awareness, learn mental skills and apply them throughout this journey together. Topics that may be covered include positivity, confidence, relaxation, goal setting, and focus to name a few. Please note that the topics covered in sessions are specific to your needs and not all topics listed are necessarily going to be covered. Individual sessions are either 30 minutes, 45 minutes or an hour in duration and can be completed face-to-face or via Zoom. Online individual sessions via Zoom can be done from anywhere around the globe and are not limited to a specific location.

SMall Group Sessions

Team Sessions

A small group of two to nine individuals will work with our MPC just like an individual client would. Small group sessions are great for individuals that want to learn about the same topic: a small group, team, coaches or even parents. Topics for small group sessions may include, but are not limited to learning about confidence, visualization, focus, communication, relaxation, positivity, support systems, leadership and more.

Team sessions consist of a group of 10 or more individuals. Just like individuals and small groups, the team as a whole gains knowledge, enhances their awareness and are taught mental skills and performance enhancement techniques that can be utilized specific to their sport. Topics for teams may include, but are not limited to learning about communication, teamwork, cohesion, team support, confidence, and such.

OBSERVATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES

COMPETITION SUPPORT

Workshops consist of a group usually of 15 to 40 individuals. Just like individual, small group, and team sessions, workshops can include the same content, mental skills, and performance enhancement techniques to help benefit the group. Workshops can be for athletes, coaches, or parents and will last anywhere from two to four hours.

Observational opportunities can take place during practice or competition for individuals or teams. Observation can last up to two hours and might be recommended by the consultant if the individual client or coach of a team cannot truly and accurately pinpoint the area(s) for concern or that need attending to. This is a great way for the client(s) to get the most out of the sport psychology training.

Competition support takes place at competitions in-state, out-of-state, or out of the country and is available for both individuals and teams. The consultant will provide support throughout the competition to enforce what has been learned in previous meetings to aid application in the moment. This support will take place during allotted and natural breaks such as prior to and (depending on the sport) during competition.
